Grace Acan shares her experience and defines justice

Watch Grace Acan describe what she has learned about healing, justice, and reparations since returning from captivity. Regarding survivor-centred approaches to justice and reparations, Acan states that "I learned that justice to someone who is suffering war is addressing the immediate need that person is going through." While discussing justice with other returnees in northern Uganda, Acan heard them question: "What's the point of going to court if my child is not going to school? If I have nothing to eat for dinner, what is the point of taking someone to court?" To Acan , "justice is addressing their immediate needs, which vary from person to person."
