The Pre-Raphaelites were a group of painters, specifically English painters, who were interested in forms of painting that were in opposition to the work done by the famous Italian artist Raphael. The Pre-Raphaelites were not interested in the contemporary styles of art, their work was established and well known by its association to the middle ages, which was very apparent in their paintings.
