Victorian Ghosts, 1852-1907: EN 4573 Collection

James_ML_01

The author is comparing Arthur Lloyd to an Italian poet named Francesco Petrarcha, who is mainly known for a sonnet sequence called Canzoniere. The sonnet is based on a woman named Laura, who he faithfully loved for the rest of his life. In comparison Lloyd is the opposite as he starts to love another after his wife's passing.
