Lascars

On 2 January 1755 a group of 25 South Asians lascars were hired onto the Prince de Conti at Chandannagar. Along the way, five of them died and one deserted. Another was hired in Port Louis as a replacement. The 21 remaining lascars disembarked at Port Louis, Île de France, on 26 October 1755.
