Victorian Ghosts, 1852-1907: EN 4573 Collection

Milo of Croton (alternately known as Milon of Croton) was a highly esteemed wrestler from the city of Croton, now Crotone, southern Italy, in the 6th Century BC. Regarded for his extraordinary athletic and military achievement, legendary tales of Milo’s demise say that in trying to tear apart the trunk of a tree with his bare hands he became trapped and was eaten by wolves. “Milo of Croton.” Edited by Amy Tikkanen, Encyclopædia Britannica, Encyclopædia Britannica, Inc., 19 Dec. 2017, Accessed 10 November 2020.
