A military unit travels to South Asia

On 8 March 1754, a military unit composed of 111 French and German soldiers boarded the Prince de Conti at Lorient. The next day, they set sail for South Asia. Seven stayed behind due to illness or other causes. One deserted before embarking. Along the way, five deserted in Santiago on Cabo Verde on 4 April. They disembarked at Pondichéry on 2 September 1754.
