26 September — An employee of the railroad on arriving from Mexico announced that President Porfirio Diaz was the target of an attack during the celebration of the national holiday in Mexico, on the 11th. Gunshots were fired at the president while he was on the balcony of the palace where the crowd was cheering for him. Forty people were implicated in the affair, fifteen arrested.The Mexican legation in Paris received a telegram authorizing them to deny the news.
