General Electric’s 1966 Mixer Gift Set
► Produced and sold during a time of social reform and technological innovation in Canada and the U.S.A., the M7 Gift Mixer set by General Electric is preserved in time as an artefact that brings the beholder to question its design, connotations, and life as a product.
We invite you to learn about the role and existence of G.E.'s M range of mixers in society, from production, mediation, and to consumption. Our findings support interpretations of how C.G.E. (and by extension G.E.) appealed to Canadian consumers in the years and events prior and after the 1960s through marketing and consumer associations. Research has revealed the life of this mixer when it was a product, and the legacy it preserves for us today as an artefact and heirloom.
This artefact is held in Moffatt's fonds, acquired by York University, ON, Canada.
